UNA'S HEDEBY KIT

Hedeby kit consist of a white/bleached linen tunic/serk, rectangular construction with gores and gussets with simple embroidery along the bottom. Key-hole neckline with silk trim. This is Una's nice tunic for special occasions. The fancy brooche is from Raymond's QuietPress. The simple penanular brooche is from Historical Enterprices.
The bone cross was a gift from Lodin. Una also has a simple brown linen dress/serk with a keyhole neckline. It's nice and light and is a great work dress.

The white/grey wool dress has a round neckline and set in sleeves based on Hedeby harbor finds 72C and 73. It's completely hand sewn with brown wool thread. It has six gores.

The grey apron dress is based on Hedeby harbor finds #14A,B. Just like the find it has back darts that are proposed to face the outside of the garment. They are decorated with red wool braid. Similar darts are on the front of the apron dress as well, for continuity. The top part of the dress is decorated with wool embroidery based on Birka grave find.

Tortoise brooches are late X century design, P52/55. They have been found in graves in Denmark, Sweden and even Russia. They are from Raymond's QuietPress. Beads are simple glass and silver granular beads from a bead store. They are loosely based on Grave 632, Birka, Sweden. The second strand of beads are carnelian.

The hat is white red wool embroidery, based on a silk cap found in Coppergate. Una wouldn't be rich enough to afford a whole silk cap so it's made from linen.

Shoes are horse hide turnshoes based on Hedeby finds. Una made them herself and she will never use that thick of leather again. Ever. Una wraps a square of linen around her feet in lieu of socks.
